What is AiROCK?

View All Kits

AiROCK™ is a computer controlled coil replacement system. The coil springs are replaced by our custom air springs, and the bump stops are moved to the custom shock absorbers that come with the kit. The system includes four air springs, four shocks, the user interface, the AiROCK™ Control Unit (ACU), four height sensors, stainless steel brackets, and the wiring harness and tubing to connect all of the components.

AiROCK™ ties into the Vehicle Speed Sensor, (VSS) which in conjunction with the ACU, allows the system to know the vehicle speed and height of all four corners at all times. This information allows AiROCK™ to operate in three different driving modes, which include "Off road", "Highway" and "Freeway". The end result is the best of both worlds-- total control of your vehicle's behavior off road, and a safe, level vehicle at higher speeds.

How do I control AiROCK?

AiROCK™ allows the user to control the height, pitch and roll of the vehicle with a touch of a button. Push the "right arrow" and your vehicle leans to the right, push the "up arrow" and the vehicle rises to its maximum height. Press the "check" button at any time and you return to your predetermined, level ride height. A simple, intuitive dash-mounted interface provides a powerful way of telling your vehicle's suspension how to behave in real time.

Button menus are also customizable so you can easily execute commands that you use most often, both on and off road. The user interface iSs encased in black anodized aluminum to ensure longevity and a clean OEM appearance. The interface even turns its backlit screen on automatically as night falls!

What are the advantages?

There are many advantages over conventional spring suspensions. On road, the ride is smoother and the ACU automatically compensates for body roll by making real time pressure changes in each corner. The system also allows you to drive a vehicle with very large tires everyday, while maintaining a lower center of gravity, thus providing better handling. The system also has an optional "egress" mode which tells the vehicle to lower itself every time you turn it off, making getting in and out of it much safer and easier.

Off road the system gives you complete manual control of your vehicle. In off camber situations you can tell the vehicle to "lean" into the hill, or lower the vehicle to keep the center of gravity down. Tired of hitting your bumper on tall rocks you're trying to climb? Press the "pitch front up" button and raise your bumper a few inches to clear those rocks! Next time you get high centered, simply raise the vehicle and continue down the trail. The air springs also articulate more naturally than coils. Coming down off of rocks is less jarring and off camber situations more stable. There are countless other situations that AiROCK™ systems make safer and more enjoyable.

In all modes, the height and ground clearance of your vehicle are maintained no matter how much weight you add or subtract from it. Now adding more lift to accommodate larger tires takes place in minutes instead of swapping out coils, simply adjust your "ride height" from inside the cab.

What else does the kit require?

AiROCK™ is a coil replacement system; it is not a complete suspension lift kit. Currently we offer 4" and 6" AiROCK™ bolt-on kits for Jeep® Wrangler TJs. As with any coil lift, geometry and driveline issues that go along with a substantial lift have to be addressed before or while installing AiROCK™.

We highly recommend using the Rubicon Express Extreme Duty Long Arm lift with the AiROCK™ 6" system. A Slip Yoke Eliminator is also needed to handle the extreme axle travel that the AiROCK™ systems provide. The shock absorbers that come with our kits require bar pin eliminators in the lower front and upper rear. They also require front upper shock adaptors, which are made by JKS Manufacturing and others.

Most importantly, the AiROCK™ systems require an on board air, (OBA) system. There are many ways to design an OBA system, which is why we do not include one as part of the AiROCK™ system. We do sell a separate OBA system and many fittings and accessories you may need when piecing together your own OBA setup.

How difficult is the kit to install?

The installation process is very straight forward. You essentially replace your old coils and shock absorbers, mount the height sensors, interface and ACU, and run the wiring and air lines. Detailed instruction manual and user guide, along with great customer support ensure a smooth install.
